1 Mach ' s Principle , Dirac ' s Large Numbers , and the Cosmological Constant Problem

چکیده
We assume that the cosmological constant Λ is the sum of a general-relativistic term and of the quantum, scale-varying, gravitational self-energy of virtual pairs. A renormalization group approach is used to describe its scale-dependence. We argue that the large scale value of Λ is reached at the classical electron scale. This reasoning provides us with a large-number relation: α (mP/me) = (L/lP) 1/3 , (where L = Λ, α is the fine structure constant, me the electron mass, mP and lP the Planck mass and length), which yields a value of Λ in agreement with present observational limits. Cosmological argument in proving the existence of God from Imam Khomeini's (RA) point of view
This article reviews Cosmological argument in proving the existence of God from the viewpoint of Imam Khomeini (RA). At first, various views to the existence of God are reviewed and then its etymology will be reviewed. Cosmological argument proves God through universal premises about truth and world and and the Movement Argument, Casual Argument and Necessity and Possibility Argument are dif...
متن کاملA new large-number coincidence and a scaling law for the cosmological constant
An ensemble of pure numbers of the order of 10 is produced naturally from the fundamental parameters of modern cosmology. This new large-number coincidence problem is resolved by demonstrating implicit physical connections that follow from the standard cosmological model. However, the occurrence of the new large-number coincidence combined with the known coincidence among pure numbers of the or...
متن کاملOn Dual Phase-Space Relativity, the Machian Principle and Modified Newtonian Dynamics
We investigate the consequences of the Mach’s principle of inertia within the context of the Dual Phase Space Relativity which is compatible with the Eddington-Dirac large numbers coincidences and may provide with a physical reason behind the observed anomalous Pioneer acceleration and a solution to the riddle of the cosmological constant problem. The cosmological implications of Non-Archimedea...

Recent discovery of the rate of expansion of the Universe (Reiss A.G. et al., 1998; Perlimutter S. et al., 1999) is connected with the vacuum energy in space which, in turn, can be considered (Gliner E.B., 1965) as the cosmological constant in Einstein's equation. In this article the cosmological term predicted by Einstein is interpreted in terms of World's mass required by Mach's principle. Th...
متن کاملSpacetimes admitting quasi-conformal curvature tensor
The object of the present paper is to study spacetimes admitting quasi-conformal curvature tensor. At first we prove that a quasi-conformally flat spacetime is Einstein and hence it is of constant curvature and the energy momentum tensor of such a spacetime satisfying Einstein's field equation with cosmological constant is covariant constant. Next, we prove that if the perfect flui...
